After only a few weeks into the new season it looks like Atletico PR could be a title contender, not only because of the first triumph of the season (an impressive 5-1 victory over Chapecoense) but also because they won their Campeonato Paulista, and managed to kick Sao Paulo already out of the Cup with a 4-3 aggregate and achieving a comfortable 3-0 victory in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana qualifiers against the Argentinian side of Newell's Old Boys.
They visit Gremio, unbeaten in the last seven matches, but had a very tough midweek fixture in Paraguay, drawing 0-0 to Cerro Porteño in the opener of the Copa Libertadores.
Atletico PR has never beaten Gremio on the road, losing 14 of the 19 ever played there, but managed to draw against them back in August and they are now better than ever, so they should be able to take a point here.
